Time doesn’t lessen your beauty;
it only leaves you more radiant,
as my mind is left ravishing every attempt to rationalise
why eyes azure blue and hair so golden,
though sported by millions,
has never been worn so well as by you.
this is now a part time makeup blog

So, this is something I’m doing :)
Today (April 2nd) is World Autism Day.
My hair is blue for Autism Queenland’s “Go Blue for Austism in April” initiative.
I strongly believe that there is not NEARLY enough understanding about Autism and related conditions, neither is there enough support readily available for the kids, people, and families that need it.
I’ve worked closely with a number of Autistic and Aspergers children in my work as a teacher’s aide, in my teaching degree pracs as well, and my work in OSHC. My brother-in-law has Aspergers. One of my very best friends has Aspergers.
I’ve seen first hand how little knowledge and understanding people have about these. I know how difficult it is to know how to provide the best care, and I’ve seen the damage caused by misunderstanding and thus incorrectly dealing with the ‘issues’ that arise with autistic children, especially in schools.
Please consider donating to the cause.
Here’s the link to my fundraising page: http://www.everydayhero.com.au/larainskip
However, I don’t know how ‘internationally friendly’ it is - so please, don’t let that stop you, but have a look to see if there’s any local organisations working for the same cause, and donate to them. (but be careful to research the organisation, to make sure their money is going where they say it is, and that they are not actually working against increased support for Autism!)
Thank you <3
And there’s a ‘Go Blue For Autism’ initiative for the month, and World Awareness Day is April 2nd.
I was going to dye my hair blue from April-June just for fun, but with this new discovery today, I think I’ll use my blue hair for good, to specifically support and raise awareness of Autism.
I’m not entirely sure what else this means (aka, fundraising and stuff….)
But I’d like to help this cause.
